Under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, the Sheikh Zayed Book Award is organizing at the Abu Dhabi Center for the Arabic Language of the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi a virtual ceremony to honor the winners of the fifteenth session of the Sheikh Zayed Book Award, on this day. Monday, May 24 at 6 pm UAE local time (2 pm GMT), in conjunction with the activities of the Abu Dhabi International Book Fair 2021.

The Sheikh Zayed Book Award celebrates every year a group of writers, researchers, translators, publishers and writers whose works have influenced the Arab and international intellectual, cultural, literary and social movement, and this year, the award honors 8 writers and researchers from Egypt, Tunisia, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the United States of America, in addition to a Lebanese publishing house. , In recognition of their distinguished creative and intellectual productions in eight fields.

Richness and diversity

The scientific body of the Sheikh Zayed Book Award had announced earlier that the Egyptian writer Iman Mersal won the Literature Branch Prize for the book “On the Impact of Inayat Al-Zayat” published by Dar Al Kutub Khan in 2019, while the Tunisian writer Maysouni Bennani won the Child and Young Adult Literature Branch award. The story of “An artist’s journey” published by the Sociability House for publication in 2020.

As for the translation award, it was won by the American translator Michael Cooperson for his book Impostures, a translation of “Maqamat Hariri” from Arabic into English, and it was published by the New York University’s Arabic Literature Library in 2020.

In the Young Author Branch, Saudi researcher Dr. Asma Moqbel Awad Al-Ahmadi was awarded the prize for the study of “The Problems of the Narrated Self in the Saudi Feminist Novel – A Critical Study (1999 – 2012)”, published by the Arab Science House Publishers in 2020, while the Arts and Critical Studies Branch was awarded to the Tunisian researcher Khalil Qawia, for a book “Modernization Path in Plastic Arts from Drawings to Painting” issued by Muhammad Ali Publishing House in 2020, and the Prize for the Development and State Building Branch, won by researcher Dr. Saeed Al-Masry from Egypt, on the book “The Legacy of Supremacy between Folklore and the Religious Field”, which was published by Bettana House for Publishing and Distribution in 2019.

American researcher Tahera Qutbuddin won the Arab Culture in Other Languages ​​Branch Prize for the book “Arabic Rhetoric: Art and Function” published in English by Braille Publishing in 2019, while the Lebanese House Al-Jadid won the Sheikh Zayed Book Award for the Branch of Publishing and Cultural Technologies.
