The newly crowned Premier League champions will return to play on Friday evening, as they travel to St James’ Park to face Newcastle United.
Premier League preview
Manchester City finally crowned the Premier League title. It was always possible that Pep Guardiola’s side would win the league title, but very few people expected that the title race would have ended in the final ten days of the season. City were crowned champions after Manchester United lost at Old Trafford to Leicester City. The Red Devils made ten changes as they looked forward to the Europa League final at the end of the month. City will now look to finish the season strong, as they will likely end the season on 89 points. City’s final form was not the strongest, having lost two of their previous four matches. They will go into this match on their way to avenge their defeat at Chelsea last weekend.
The job is done for Newcastle United, as Steve Bruce sails the Magpies to safety in the Premier League. Ton’s safety has been confirmed after Fulham’s defeat by Burnley on Monday night, and eyes will now turn to the future. With very little play on Friday night, we could see Bruce playing in the attacking line-up for the second game on rebounds, having worked out very well against Leicester City last time. Newcastle were 4-0 up against the Foxes in just over 70 minutes. Callum Wilson scored twice in the big win on the road, while Joe Willock and Paul Dumet were also among the scorers.
Newcastle United and Manchester City head-to-head match
Newcastle has not had much success against City in the recent confrontations between the two sides, losing their last three matches in all competitions. The last two Premier League matches saw City score seven goals in total, while Newcastle failed to score. However, the Magpies were unbeaten in their last two matches against City at St James’ Park.
Predict the Newcastle United and Manchester City match
Matches are often difficult to predict towards the end of the season. However, this has to be one of the most obvious. City has an excellent record against the magpie and must claim a routine win despite the number of changes Guardiola is likely to make.
