On Sunday, the Delhi and Provincial Cricket Association (DDCA) offered its headquarters – Aaron Jaitley Stadium – for the state government to use as a COVID-19 vaccine center. The message that was sent also included the possibility of using the stadium to vaccinate 10,000 people per day.

Arun Jaitley Stadium, which was last used to host a 2021 version of the IPL Games, has been shown to the state government for use as a COVID-19 vaccine center. The Delhi and Provincial Cricket Association (DDCA), in a letter to the state government, added that the premises of the place can be used until things return to normal.

“I wrote that if they feel they need a vaccination center, the DDCA building can be used until normalcy returns,” Gaitley told PTI Saturday.

At present, Delhi has around 394 centers, where people between the ages of 18 and 44 are vaccinated. On the other hand, healthcare workers, frontline employees, and those over the age of 45 are receiving injections at 470 centers. While the virus has fallen to 11% in the capital, the Delhi government is actively looking to vaccinate the entire state.

Rohan Jaitley, also president of the DDCA, stated that the stadium had a facility where 10,000 people could be vaccinated per day and insisted that the land could be used until any kind of cricket activities resumed in place.

“In our stadium we have a facility where they can vaccinate 10,000 people a day. If they want, until such time as some semblance of normality emerges, they can use it until cricket resumes.”
