Saturday Night Live took time to mock the CDC announcement earlier in the week that people who had been fully vaccinated no longer need to wear face masks in certain situations.

During the cold opening of the show, Kate McKinnon resumed her role as America’s greatest infectious disease expert, Dr. Anthony Fauci, as the comic went on to examine a series of scenarios in which people might still be required to wear face masks.

‘He is your son, Fauci, the patron saint of Purell. As you’ve probably heard, we’ve got some very good news this week. The CDC announced that people who have been vaccinated no longer need to wear masks, outdoors or indoors. Too great, isn’t it? Fuci McKinnon started.

Lots of people had questions, like, What does that mean? what the hell are you talking about? Is this a trap?

The questions seem fair enough after Americans have been given all the clarity to take off their masks following CDC’s relaxed guidelines for people who have been fully vaccinated.

While some say they are excited about finally ditching face coverings for good, others admit that the new discovered freedom may take time to get used to as it has become the “ norm. ”

In a pandemic event that President Joe Biden hailed as a “ wonderful day, ” the CDC revealed Thursday that vaccinated Americans no longer need to wear masks outdoors in crowds and in most enclosed spaces.

Although it is a big step toward returning to pre-pandemic life, a handful of Democratic governors, including Andrew Cuomo of New York, have said they will ignore CDC directives until they review it completely.

Some of the big companies, including Starbucks and Home Depot, have said they will keep masking policies in place for now. Others – such as CVS, Walgreens, and Macy’s – are now reviewing their requirements in light of the new guidelines.

But companies that choose to lift the rule ordering customers to wear masks can only do so in states that have also lifted mandates, causing further confusion among Americans.

Governors in 12 states: California, Delaware, Hawaii, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, Ohio and Virginia, said they are reviewing the directives and, in the meantime, keep their faces covering the states in place.

In 13 other states like Colorado, Connecticut, Illinois, Kansas, Kentucky, Michigan, Minnesota, Nevada, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Vermont, Washington and West Virginia, governors said that according to new CDC guidelines, they would drop the mask – wear orders.

As for the remaining countries, either they have already lifted the mask orders, or have not requested them to begin with.

The first scenario saw Beck Bennett and Eddie Bryant examine the case of a man walking into a bar. Does he need to wear a mask?

The complexity of the rules led Dr. McCinnon to Dr. Fauci showing off a series of CDC physicians that the entire SNL staff had played with all of them representing “correct mask behavior” in various scenarios.

The first scene saw Beck Bennett and Eddie Bryant examine the scenario of a man walking into a bar.

“Do I still have to wear a mask indoors?” Asked.

She replied, “You actually don’t.” Bennett removed his mask before Bryant added, “As long as I am a restaurant.”

Okay, I’m going into a bar at 11 am Do you really think I’ve been vandalized? Because that’s on you, Bennett continued.

Bryant agreed, saying, “ You’re right, I deserve Covid. ”

Dr. MacKinnon Fauci stated that although it was not the main message, “the real point is that we should trust each other.”

In the next scene titled “Friendly Skies,” Bowen Yang plays an airline passenger while Ego Nodem is a flight attendant.

Yang had stuck his mask around his chin. While ordering a drink, Nodem indicated that when he’s not drinking, he has to keep his mask.

Yang said he had been hanging inside for more than a year and asked her if she wanted to “hit.” The response came, “You know I do, O king.”

“The lesson should have been that you need masks on planes,” Fauci added. “Not everyone has severe horns now.”

The next scene in which Alex Moffat and Cecilie Strong saw the two in a “ very large gathering ” and neither was wearing a mask. Moffat asked if he should wear the flip cover.

“We don’t have to because we’re out – the Capitol,” Strong said before pulling out a pistol and MAGA muffins, referring to the US Capitol protests in January. She said, “Now let’s have it!”

Fauci lost the words, despite their advice that mask accuracy was not required.

Lauren Holt and Bunky Johnson were next in line as they made a groundbreaking scenario in which Johnson wanted to enter Hult’s store.

“I still ask clients to wear a mask with respect,” Holt said.

Johnson replied, “But I don’t need a mask, I’m gay.”

“And I’m an ally. Holt said: The first hot dog is on me.

McKinnon was left flustered again. “Being an ally is great but it has nothing to do with mask safety.”

The couple were photographed eating outdoors in a restaurant and noticing that they were allowed to remove their masks.

When Dismukes took off his mask, he is seen to have a goatee. Feynman joked that she “doesn’t like the bottom of his face,” because she had never seen him during a pandemic.

He suggested that she put the mask on her eyes.

Then the public transport issue was addressed with Melissa Villasenor, stating that the masks would still be required on buses, subways and ferries.

“Where should I masturbate because buses, ferries, and subways all look like great options?” Pete Davidson asked.

The final section of the cool open show saw the cast members dance, discussing how “everyone got vaccinated, so we never need masks again.”

In the Mask Mystery, cast members Kyle Mooney, Kenan Thompson, Heidi Gardner and McKay Day play four friends who have only been half vaccinated “traveling by train from Florida to the UK with one old and the other an infant.”

“How many masks should we wear and in what order?” The question came. Dr. Fauci described it as a mystery.

The final section of the drawing watched the cast members dance, discussing how “everyone got vaccinated, so we never need masks again” with a question about what to do with all the masks purchased over the past year.

Yang said he would use a mask as a “hamster umbrella.” Nodim was going to turn two of her into a bikini.

The conversation was about to turn into the situation in Israel before Dr. MacKinnon Fauci intervened again and simply asked everyone to get vaccinated and “enjoy life without masks.”
