Sources in the Egyptian Suez Canal Authority said that a vessel transporting containers broke down in the waterway, today, Friday. The sources pointed out that the engines of the ship “Maersk Emerald” suffered malfunctions near the city of Ismailia during its southward passage.
But it was towed to make repairs without any impact on maritime navigation. “Leith” Shipping Agencies stated that navigation inside the canal was normal after the vessel was towed.
The container ship “Ever Geffen” ran aground in the canal last March and disrupted for days the maritime traffic in the waterway, through which a large proportion of world trade passes.
