Vice President Kamala Harris first international trip lost her mind when her plane was forced to fly back to Andrews base due to a “technical problem” about 30 minutes after takeoff. About an hour and a half later, the vice president took off on another plane.

“I’m fine, I’m fine. We all prayed a little, but we’re fine, ”Harris told reporters after getting off the plane. She also gave a thumbs up.

Senior aide Simone Sanders said there were “no major safety issues during the flight.”

Harris travels to Guatemala and Mexico for her first overseas trip as vice president. In March, President Joe Biden assigned her to lead the administration’s diplomatic efforts with the Northern Triangle and Mexico to help stem the flow of migration along the southern border. Harris intends to spend two days meeting with the presidents of the two countries and meeting with organizers on the ground.

Sanders said last week that the vice president will tackle issues including COVID-19 vaccinations, natural disasters, food insecurity and climate change, as well as poverty, violence and corruption.

Guatemalan President Alejandro Giammattei, who is due to receive Harris on Monday, told CBS News that Harris “she’s not holding back, which is good. She’s outspoken.”
