The plane carrying US Vice President Kamala Harris on her maiden overseas flight on Sunday faced a technical problem that delayed its flight to Guatemala on a tour that also includes Mexico.

Vice President’s spokeswoman Simone Sanders said less than half an hour after the government plane took off from a military airport near Washington, the plane was due to return to the airport for a transfer.

“This is a technical problem,” the spokeswoman added. “There are no major security problems.”

Harris’s official visit tomorrow and the day after tomorrow (Monday and Tuesday) will focus on immigration and economic cooperation, and his first stop will be in Guatemala.

Emir President Joe Biden has assigned Vice President Harris to lead the fight against immigration from Central America to the United States.

“For them, I’m fine, I’m fine,” Harris gestured to the reporters as she stepped out of the plane.
