On Monday, Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelenskiy expressed regret that US President Joe Biden did not plan to meet with him ahead of his high-profile summit with Russian Vladimir Putin this week.

“It would be better to hold this meeting before the summit of the two presidents,” Zelenskiy said in an interview with international news agencies, including AFP.


Zelenskiy said his conflict-torn country proves “every day” that it is ready to join NATO and blamed Moscow for delaying a key meeting with Russian leader Vladimir Putin.

“We are at war. This is proof that we are ready to join (NATO). Every day we prove that we are ready to be in the alliance more than most EU countries, ”Zelensky said.

He also accused Russia of postponing a proposed meeting with Putin to discuss the years-long conflict in eastern Ukraine.
