Aakash Chopra believes there is no room for any change in Team India’s playing squad for the final ODI against Sri Lanka.

The Shikhar Dhawan-led Indian team has already sealed the three-match ODI series after taking an unassailable 2-0 lead. The Indian team management has so far lined up the same XI in both ODIs and the players have given a decent account of themselves.

In a video shared on his YouTube channel, Aakash Chopra replied that he expects Team India to stick with the same playing XI when a fan asks him about possible changes for the third ODI. Regarding the Indian bowling lineup, the cricketer who became commentator said:

“Not even one. I don’t expect any more changes. You should play Kuldeep – you won’t play him in the T20Is, you should play Yuzi Chahal every match, Deepak Chahar – don’t even touch him, Bhuvneshwar Kumar is the vice captain and just came back from injury.”

Aakash Chopra emphasized that there is also no change in the batting division. He reasoned:

“Hardik Pandya has done nothing so far neither in bowling nor batting so you will be playing against him. Why not play against Krunal Pandya – he scored 35 runs and gave away only 26 runs in the first match. Pandey ji has it well done in both strokes, Ishan scored points in one stroke, Prithvi also scored points in one stroke, Suryakumar in both strokes and Shikhar Dhawan is the captain. There is no room for any change.”

While Aakash Chopra thinks Team India is unlikely to make any changes, team management might consider resting some players for the T20I series and giving a shot to some of the youngsters waiting in the wings .

Aakash Chopra added that select players need to get a decent run to show their credentials. He explained:

“If it’s a three-game run, I think you should play against the team you picked in the first game. It’s just fair that if you’ve chosen someone and he’s not bad in two chances Done, you might want to give him a third chance.”

The 43-year-old signed off by stating that a change should only be made if a player is ruled out due to injury. Aakash Chopra explained:

“If you take him out and play against someone else he will only play that one match and what a great job he will do there. And even if he does he won’t be able to bring out the confidence because it’s the last ODI you will again choose a new team for the T20Is. I do not foresee any changes as far as India is concerned, unless of course there is an injury or a problem that we have no idea about.”

With Sanju Samson already recovering from his injury, he could be in the mix for the final ODI. Navdeep Saini could also get a chance by resting Bhuvneshwar Kumar, keeping the Indian vice-captain fresh for the T20I series.
