Spanish national team player Dani Ceballos suffered a serious injury during his match against his Egyptian counterpart (0-0) today, Thursday, at the start of their career in football competition as part of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games activities .
The Egyptian striker, Taher Mohamed Taher, walked over Ceballos’ foot in the 41st minute, during a strong contact between them, which led to the Spanish player’s sprained ankle, who left the field and could end his career in Tokyo.
The video technology intervened and called on the Jordanian international referee, Adham Makhadmeh, to review the situation and the possibility of announcing a red card for Taher Muhammad Taher under the pretense of trampling Ceballos’ ankle, but the referee was content with showing the yellow card only.
Spain’s coach, De La Fuente, had to substitute John Moncaiola for the injured Ceballos in the last minute of the first half.
Taher Mohamed Taher also injured Spanish player Oscar Mingueza in the 22nd minute of the first half.
The Egyptian striker intervened forcefully against Barcelona defender Oscar Mingueza, leaving the latter stricken with the injury, and Real Madrid defender Vallejo taking his place.
