Harness race selections: Friday 23 July

We are thrilled to have you on our site. If you enjoy the post you have just found kindly Share it with friends.

Two gatherings to watch on Friday, with Tabcorp Park Melton and Albion Park drawing my attention. Below you will find your best bets for the respective programs.

Tabcorp Park Melton

Best Bet: Race Seven Number 4 Balenciago

Pretty enthusiastic about this lightly played gelding. He tends to race best when he’s in the lead and the two wins from his last three outings have come when he’s led, the last one saw him get along in Ballarat.

A good test for him here, but he should find the front and be hard to run down.

Next Best: Race Four Number 1 Elegant Jet

The start will be crucial as there will be speed pulling outside, but if she can hold the front, she’s the one to beat.

This mare jumped back at Terang twice before going to Ballarat where she was a close second. If she keeps it up, she will definitely catch.

Value: Race Five Number 1 Real Campbell

It is crossed at the start. It just depends if he can get the spot behind the leader.

If so, he comes right into the mix as a winning threat at odds. His two runs back from a break were solid, one place each time, the last being a second here last Friday night. Can be much closer in flight and has a positive side.

Albion Park

Best Guess: Race Nine Number 3 Flashy Seb

These two-year trot races are fraught with danger as more than half of the field is likely to be galloping at any given time. This guy has the Rickie Alchin polish and he made his debut here just under a month ago.

Daily Sports Opinion

function edmWidgetSignupEvent() { window.roarAnalytics.customEvent({ category: ‘EDM’, action: ‘EDM Signup’, label: `Shortcode Widget`, }); }

He broke in flight but gathered and held on tight to run second. He will improve for the run and I would much rather take him $4 plus than $1.30 or thereabouts for stable mate King City, who was in a hog mood in the same race.

Next best: race three number 1 always bopping

A NSW visitor looking good for Bernie Hewitt. Recent runs have come in Bathurst, the last run in which he finished third, beaten as a chance at pop.

Should get every chance off the post and has shown gate speed so he should keep a forward spot and prove hard to beat.

Value: Race Four Number 8 Delicious reason

This filly follows a fast novice so if she can hold back leaders it will be hard to hold out late.

Far from disgrace at Group 2 level at Redcliffe last time in what was a fast race. Saves her best for Albion Park and if everything falls into place, she’ll seem like the winner at some point.
