Umesh Yadav’s 3/22 helped Rohit Sharma-led India XI pack up County Select XI early and set aside the third and final day for batting practice at the Riverside Ground in Durham. At stumps, the County Select XI scored 220/9, trailing the Indians by 91 runs. With Avesh Khan out of the game, the innings ended for the provincial side.

The Indians came out at bat and rocked County Select XI when Jake Libby (12), Robert Yates (1) and Washington Sundar (1) were cheaply sacked and the squad reduced to 29/3. Libby was fired by Umesh Yadav, while Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj defeated Yates and Sundar respectively.

Haseeb Hameed and Will Rhodes then ensured that the side didn’t lose any more wickets before the lunch hour, making the score 44/3, still 267 runs behind Indians.

India vs Select County XI Day 3 LIVE: After the lunch break, Umesh Yadav made the breakthrough for Rhodes (11) for the Indians, reducing County Select XI to 56/4. However, Hameed along with Lyndon James took the innings for the side and the duo brought the score to 113/4 during the tea break.

Umesh was again the go-to man when he sent James (27) back to the pavilion after the tea break. Shortly after, Ravindra sacked Jadeja James Rew (2) and County Select XI was reduced to 159/6, still 152 runs behind.

India vs Select County XI Day 3 LIVE: Hameed was able to hold Indians at bay for a long time, but he eventually perished bowling from Shardul Thakur, but it wasn’t before he had a 112 run knock. India vs Select County XI Day 2 LIVE: Updates on Team India’s three-day warm-up game in Durham

· Captain Virat Kohli felt some stiffness in his back late Monday night and he has been advised by the BCCI Medical Team to rest from the three-day first-class warm-up race. (India exhibition game)

· Vice captain Ajinkya Rahane has a slight swelling around his left upper hamstring. This has been remedied by an injection. He will not be available for the three-day first-class warm-up race. BCCI’s medical team are watching him and he is expected to recover well in time for the first test against England which starts on August 4 in Nottingham.

Rohit Sharma is the captain of the three-day first-class warm-up game.

The ECB made a request to the Indian team management to allow two players from the Indian contingent to play for County Select XI after some of their players were deemed unavailable due to injury or close contacts of a Covid-19 positive person. Accordingly, Washington Sundar and Avesh Khan have been made available to play for their team.
