Iran opens new oil export terminal along Strait

Iranian President Hassan Rouhani announced on Thursday the opening of a new oil export terminal in the Gulf of Oman, allowing shipments to avoid the strategic Strait of Hormuz.

On live television, Rouhani said Iran had opened a 1,000-kilometre (600-mile) pipeline and started “operating the export terminal” in Jask in the Makran region.
