Chelsea youngster Lewis Bate has rejected a new contract from the club and decided to join Leeds United until 2024. The 18-year-old has declined Chelsea’s new offer and signed up for Marcelo Bielsa’s men.

Lewis Bate has been associated with several clubs but has decided to commit his future to Elland Road. According to reports, Lewis Bate refused to renew his contract with Chelsea because he was not sure whether there would be any first-team football.

Leeds United have signed Lewis Bate for a reported fee of £1.15million. This is the fifth signing of the summer transfer window for the club. So far they have signed Junior Firpo, Jack Harrison, Shaun McGurk and Amari Miller.

“Leeds United are delighted to announce the signing of Lewis Bate. The midfielder is coming to the Whites of Chelsea, a colleague of the Premier League, for an undisclosed amount. Leeds United reports this on their website.

“Bate, who has attracted interest from a number of clubs, has signed a three-year contract with Elland Road, which runs until the summer of 2024. The 18-year-old has been part of the Chelsea youth squad for the past 10 years and captains the Blues in the 2020 FA Youth Cup Final,” added the statement.

“Last season he made the step into under-23 football, making 20 appearances as Chelsea finished second in the Premier League 2 Division 1. He also won caps at youth level for England, both under-17 and under-18. .” the statement said.
