A 14-year-old Ohio The girl drowned Tuesday in the Middletown theme park, authorities said.
Accordingly, the boy’s name is Mykiara Jones, a resident of Dicton Butler County Sheriff’s Office. Deputies were called to the Land of Illusion Adventure Park around 5 p.m., following reports of a minor drowning.
A lifeguard spotted Jones half an hour after he first fell. The teen was taken to Dayton Children’s Hospital where she was pronounced dead.
The Associated Press reported that Jones did not wear a costume designed for life and fell into the water after he went on a “jumping device,” the official said.
“This is a tragedy that no parent should have to endure,” said Butler County Sheriff Richard Jones. “These are calls that first responders are afraid of and have a hard time dealing with. Our thoughts and prayers go to the family.”
Life vests are available in the park even though guests don’t have to wear them.
