One of the biggest stars of the Olympics, American gymnast Simone Biles, was visibly upset on Tuesday night when she withdrew from the team final, with what team officials called a medical problem.

Biles, the greatest gymnast of all time, made a mistake in one discipline and pulled out of another before walking off the floor.

“She will be reviewed daily to determine medical clearance for future competitions,” officials said in the statement.

She competed in Team USA’s first rotation on vault, jumped out of her Amanar and completed just a 1.5 turn on a 2.5 turning Yurchenko before taking a big stumble back on the landing.

There is no confirmation as to whether she has a physical injury, or what her status is for the individual competition.

She then left the competition floor with the team doctor.

Biles returned a few minutes later. She took off her handles, hugged teammates and was replaced in the league.

Biles has to defend her Olympic title in the all-round final on Thursday. She also qualified for all four event finals later in the Games.

In a social media post on Monday, Biles admitted she felt the weight of the world was on her shoulders and that the Olympics were “no joke”.
