Two people got trapped inside the truck. One of these was released and treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance before being taken to Nepean Hospital in serious condition.

But the other remains “hardly trapped”.

“A rescue plan has been put in place (for this person),” a Fire and Rescue NSW spokesperson said.

The accident occurred in Lawson, in the Blue Mountains, around 7.30 a.m. Wednesday.

Initial reports indicate that it was a school bus.

A driver and a child were inside the bus at the time of the accident. A NSW ambulance spokesman said both survived, as the child is being treated for an injury to his hand.

Aerial photos show multiple emergency crews at the scene.

The accident caused a long delay on the Great Western Highway. All westbound lanes are closed.
