Abu Dhabi, the capital of the UAE, has announced that COVID-19 PCR nasal swabs will be free for all students in selected SEHA facilities and screening centers in the UAE, according to an official announcement.
“The initiative aims to realize the ambition of the nationwide leaders to achieve a safe return to school. SEHA COVID-19 screening centers are open Saturday through Thursday from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM and Friday from 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM. Walk-in, without prior appointment, is only allowed for students,” said the state news agency WAM.
Students and staff in private and charter schools in Abu Dhabi must undergo a PCR test before returning to personal learning, the Department of Education and Knowledge (ADEK) announced on Wednesday.
All those returning to school, including those who have been fully vaccinated, determined individuals, administrative staff and contractors, must present a negative PCR test result taken within 14 days of the first day of school, ADEK said in a statement.
Students must also “maintain a 14-day valid PCR test result during their first month” of the school year.
