Hyderabad FC has bolstered their attack by defeating Spanish striker Javier Siverio for the 2020-21 ISL. After spending his youth career with Laguna on the Spanish side, he represented Racing Santander in Segunda B in 2018/19, helping them gain promotion to Segunda A División.
Adding even more vigor to their attack, Hyderabad FC has completed the signing of Spanish striker Javier Siverio ahead of the 2021-22 Indian Super League campaign, the club announced on Monday.
“I am very excited to sign for Hyderabad FC and can’t wait to make my ISL debut,” said Siverio after completing the formalities.
“Last season the team was very close to reaching the top-4 and I’m sure we will aim for a higher finish in the coming season,” added the 23-year-old.
The six-foot striker started his youth career with Laguna before joining the youth lineup of Spain’s Segunda Division side Las Palmas in 2015. Siverio, aged 19, was part of the Las Palmas B-side who trained under current HFC Head Coach Manolo Marquez in the 2016-17 season.
The Spanish coach, who highly values the youngster, says: “Javi Siverio is a young striker who has played for the academies of Las Palmas and Racing Santander, where he also scored for the seniors.”
“He is a natural finisher, very smart in the box and also strong in the air. He is only 23 and will join Hyderabad to try and show us his qualities,” added the gentleman.
After spending a few seasons with Las Palmas B, Siverio joined Racing Santander in 2018. In the 2018-19 season, the 23-year-old appeared for Racing Santander II, scoring 16 goals in 22 appearances in his debut season, where he also played and scored for Racing’s first team in Segunda B as part of the squad that returned after an absence. of four years promoted to Segunda A División.
He followed the next season with a 24-goal campaign for Racing Santander II, in which he also played and scored for Racing’s first team in the 2019-20 Segunda A División.
Siverio is moving abroad for the first time with Hyderabad FC and he can’t wait to get started. “Playing in this competition is the right step for me at this point in my career. I know it will be a big challenge and I’m looking forward to this great experience,” he said.
The youngster joins Hyderabad as the fourth new overseas player after Bartholomew Ogbeche, Edu Garcia and Juanan, becoming the tenth new player to the squad this season.
