Eight people injured after explosive drone hits Saudi Arabia’s Abha airport

Eight people were injured after an explosive drone hit Abha International Airport in Saudi Arabia, the Arab Coalition said Tuesday.

According to the coalition, Saudi Arabia’s defense forces intercepted the drone it targeted at Abha International Airport just hours after a Houthi drone was destroyed in the area.

Initial reports say eight people were injured and a passenger plane was damaged in the attack, the coalition statement said.

The Iranian-backed Houthis had launched an explosive drone in the early hours of Tuesday morningThe group’s actions constitute a war crime, the coalition said in a statement.

The Houthis carry out regular attacks on Saudi Arabia and Yemeni areas under the control of the internationally recognized government. Iran supports the group in its fight against the Yemeni forces and also provides the Houthis with weapons, drones and military training.
