No NorthPort games in first week of PBA restart due to health protocols

MANILA, Philippines – PBA teams are eager to get back into action after a month-long hiatus due to the pandemic.

All but one of the teams will be able to resume play this week when the Philippine Cup resumes on Wednesday.

NorthPort will have to wait until next week for its turn for health and safety reasons.

“NorthPort Batang Pier basketball team will not play any games this week (September 1-5) in accordance with league health and safety protocols,” the PBA announced Tuesday.

The Batang Pier has had great success in the conference so far, having dropped three of their first four matches.

A triple header, highlighted by a clash between Meralco and league-leader Magnolia, kicks off the restart in Bacolor, Pampanga under a semi-bubble setup.

The PBA released its partial schedule on Tuesday with Blackwater, TNT, Terrafirma and San Miguel Beer also on opening day.
