The summer heat got the best of the Pittsburgh Steelers on Monday, less than two weeks before they open the regular season.
Several reports from Monday’s practice indicate that star-wide receiver Chase Claypool and Pro Bowl safety Minkah Fitzpatrick got into a heated fight.
“They are competitors. You almost expect it to happen at least once,” security guard Kevin Dotson told reporters after training.
Meanwhile, Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin declined to comment on the fight.
Other indications were that the two star players were beating each other in the end zone at the end of practice. As information about the abrasion broke, other Steelers players spoke out about the incident.
“We understand we don’t want to – especially our star players, we don’t want anyone to get hurt,” said defensive lineman Tyson Aloulu.
Obviously no video of the fight is available. Once that happens, we will update this article accordingly.
As for the Pittsburgh Steelers, they are opening the Week 1 regular season against the defending AFC East champ Buffalo Bills. Let’s hope this passion carries over into the regular season.
