Port Adelaide must make a decision about veteran Hamish Hartlett.
The 31-year-old out of contract is returning from a knee injury through the SANFL as he aims to pursue his selection claim a fortnight before Power’s Preliminary Final.
Hartlett, a member of Port’s leadership group and former vice-captain, has only played 10 games this season and is an unrestricted free agent.
Will The Power Hartlett Offer A New Deal? Michelangelo Rucci discussed his future at Alberton on SEN SA Breakfast.
“We can only pass 23 on Grand Final day to get medals if their team is a premiership side. That’s another debate that drags on and on,” Rucci said.
Hamish Hartlett’s bigger question mark is, what is he doing at the end of the year?
“Is it a one-year contract with Port Adelaide, where he will have more of a development role than a player role, or a two-year deal with Gold Coast – what are you doing?”
Port Adelaide champion Kane Cornes added: “It depends on his family situation.
“I hope he has that option. I hope there is a one-year deal on the table from Port Adelaide.
‘We’ll wait and see. Those decisions will be made at the end of the year.”
Hartlett has played 193 games for Port since his 2009 debut.
