Sunil Gavaskar calls this cricketer who could be groomed as India’s future captain | XtraTime

Xtra Time Web Desk: Former legendary Indian batsman Sunil Gavaskar feels that KL Rahul is captaincy and needs to be groomed as a future leader of the Indian cricket team. Gavaskar made the comments after Virat Kohli announced that he would step down as captain of the T20 after the World Cup. Rohit Sharma will take over from Kohli.

“It is good that the BCCI is looking ahead. It’s important to think ahead,” Gavaskar told Sports Tak.

“If India is looking for a new captain, KL Rahul can be looked at. He has performed well. Even now in England his percussion was very good. He has performed well in IPL and 50-overs cricket as well as on the international stage. He can become vice-captain.”

Rahul leads Punjab Kings in the IPL.

“He has shown very impressive leadership skills in the IPL. He has not let the burden of captaincy affect his percussion. His name can be taken into account,? added Gavaskar
