IPL 2021 | Wanted to know how to make it big from Virat Kohli, reveals Yashasvi Jaiswal

After RR’s 7-wicket loss to RCB on Wednesday, Yashasvi Jaiswal had a long chat with Virat Kohli, trying to understand the nuances of playing ‘big and effective’ innings for his team. He added that he has hopes to turn the good starts in the coming games into big scores.

Yashasvi Jaiswal became India’s young sensation as he scored 400 runs and became the top scorer of the 2020 U-19 World Cup in South Africa. The left-handed batsman was bought by Rajasthan Royals in the 2020 auction, but he could only make three matches for the franchise in the season.

The opening batsman, however, was a regular name in the playing XI for the Sanju Samson-led side in 2021 IPL. The southpaw got starts but struggled to convert them into big scores in the ongoing IPL 2021. So far, the 19-year-old The year-old has only managed to score 187 runs from seven games with an average of 26.71.

After a seven-wicket defeat to RCB, Jaiswal had a chat with Virat Kohli. Jaiswal has now revealed that the Indian captain has guided him in turning good starts into scores that can help the team. He added that Kohli’s advice will help him understand the areas he needs to improve.

“I wanted to know how I could make it big. That’s what I was talking about with Virat bhaiya, like how to make it effective and how to help my team,” the 19-year-old said in a video posted by Rajasthan Royals.

“He explained in a very nice way how I can do well and improve. He also said how I can always be positive and play little more.”

The Uttar Pradesh native is also hopeful that he can turn his good starts into bigger scores in the upcoming matches.

“I’m not doing what I really want to do. It’s good that I’m getting started, I want to turn them into big scores when I get the chance again. I have to work all the time and I have to know how to make it big.”

The seventh-ranked Rajasthan Royals will face table-toppers Chennai Super Kings on Saturday, October 2 in Abu Dhabi.
