Ipswich Crash: Calvin Clack Reveals He’s The Driver Behind The Knockout

Shocking details have emerged about the ‘painful’ and fatal head-to-head collision in southwest Brisbane, including the identity of the driver.

The motorist who collided with another car while driving the wrong way on a motorway in southwest Brisbane this week has been identified as Calvin Clack.

The 34-year-old dealer and father was the sole occupant of the Ford Focus, but the car he crashed into was carrying three people, two adults and a two-year-old girl.

All four died on the spot in a horrific crash Wednesday night on Ipswich Highway in Redbank.

Both cars caught fire upon impact.

On Thursday, the Queensland Police Service said the Ford driver was traveling “east in westbound lanes”.

“It is not clear at this point where the Ford Focus entered the motorway, but initial investigations indicate that the vehicle may have been traveling in the wrong direction along Cunningham Highway prior to the accident at approximately 11.15pm,” it said in a statement.

The adults in the other car were identified as a 37-year-old woman and a 39-year-old man from Darling Downs.

A senior medic described the scene as “extremely distressing”.

“Unfortunately, four people lost their lives in that accident,” said David Hartley, acting assistant commissioner of the Queensland Ambulance Service.

“My thoughts and those of the Ambulance Service go to the families of everyone involved in this horrific accident.”

Queensland Police Deputy Commissioner Steve Golchowski previously told Sunrise that four lives were “killed in an instant”.

“You can only imagine the tragic scene that first responders had to deal with, only discovering the adult and child in the four-wheel drive after the fire was put out,” he said.

“(It’s) early days so far for us in terms of the investigation, those poor people who drive 4×4 obviously didn’t stand a chance.”

Police have appealed for dash cam footage or additional information to aid in the investigation.
