Brazilian football legend Pele was released from hospital yesterday after undergoing surgery to remove a tumor in his colon to begin chemotherapy, his medical staff said.
Pele, 80, was admitted to Albert Einstein Hospital in Sao Paulo on Aug. 31 after a colon tumor was discovered during routine examinations. Doctors confirmed that the condition of the “king”, who is considered by many to be the greatest player of all time, is “stable”.
The hospital gave no further details about Pele’s chemotherapy, which is usually used for cancer patients.
