Two people were killed in a midair collision between a plane and a helicopter in Riz Rizona

Both planes are operated by flight schools, Chandler police spokesman Sgt. Jason McCleams told CNN. The plane involved in the crash landed safely at Chandler Airport.

The helicopter in which the two people were killed was flown by a quantum helicopter, and the plane that landed safely is flown by the Academy of Flight Operations, McClemans said.

CNN has contacted both flight schools for a statement but has not heard back immediately.

Welch told CNN’s KTVK / KPHO that his department received a call around 7:45 a.m. local time and found the helicopter down and a field fire. Two passengers were killed, Welch said.

NTSB Tweeted That they are investigating the crash between the Robinson R22 helicopter and the Piper PA 28-181 aircraft.

Chandler police are investigating the crash and are looking for information from potential witnesses and asking who videotaped the crash.
