Juventus striker Paulo Dybala will miss Argentina’s next three matches in qualifying for the 2022 World Cup later this month due to a thigh injury, the Argentine Football Association said.
Dybala, 27, was part of Argentina’s new squad that coach Lionel Scaloni announced last Monday, but he was ruled out, and therefore will not participate in the games of the team from Paraguay and at home against Uruguay and Peru between the eighth and the 15th of this month.
Dybala was injured in a game for his side in the Italian League, which ended in a 3-2 win over Sampdoria last weekend. Dybala left the game injured after the first goal for his team.
Dybala missed Juventus’ 1-0 win over Chelsea in the Champions League last Wednesday and Juventus expect to return to action after the international break.
Argentina are in second place in South American qualifiers for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, after five of the eight games they have played so far, and six points behind Brazil, the leaders.
