Two people have died and a third are not expected to survive Florida A man fled with a baseball bat and a knife after authorities in Florida said.
Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd Said During a press conference, the suspect, 39-year-old Shawn Runian, was in Polk County, Florida, when he was working for the Pennsylvania Electric Company Publics supermarket, when a work argument prompted him to return to a house rented by his company and attack several people.
Police say Runian pushed a supervisor at work around 2 a.m. Friday and fled. He has not been seen or heard since 9:45 a.m. Saturday when police received a report of a murder in Davenport, Florida, where Runian and his accomplices were living with their owner.
According to police, a 3-year-old man hit one victim with a baseball bat and the victim was lying on the bed, while the other victim was found dead on the front porch. A third victim was badly beaten and is in the hospital in “extremely critical condition.” On the fourth victim, Runian hit him on the neck with the bat but he escaped. Three other victims, including a 7-year-old girl, escaped unharmed.
After the attack, Runian fled and knocked on the door of a house in Lake Wales, Florida, covered in blood and told homeowners that he had been raped. He then took off his bloody clothes and went to the hospital as instructed by the landlord. He was taken into police custody at the hospital.
Runion has confessed to knowing the victims but police do not yet know the motive.
“After more than 24 hours, we had no idea what made him so angry that he would come back and try to kill everyone,” the sheriff told the media.
Judd added that Runian had a previous criminal history in Pennsylvania that included violent arrests related to strangulation.
