IPL 2021 | BCCI must take care of Arshdeep Singh and ensure his talent is not wasted, Virender Sehwag says

Virender Sehwag recently stated that the BCCI must provide a quality spacer like Arshdeep Singh and ensure that his talent is not wasted. The former Indian cricketer added that the left arm pacer is a good bowler and he will make it to the Indian cricket team someday.

With a 5 wicket win against Kolkata Knight Riders, the Punjab kings have kept themselves alive in the race to the 2021 IPL playoffs. KL Rahul chased a 166 goal, played a crucial 67 knockout and Mayank Agarwal also contributed with an innings of 40 runs. Shahrukh Khan won the match for the team by playing a small cameo of 22 runs from 9 balls at the end.

Earlier in the match, Kolkata Knight Riders scored a total of 165 in the first innings. Arshdeep Singh was the best bowler for the Punjab Kings with 3 wickets for 32 runs from his four overs. The pacemaker of the left arm was brilliant in the power play, especially his wicket from Shubhman Gill was brilliant when he threw a deadly inswinger that sent the batsman away. Former Indian cricketer Virender Sehwag has praised Arshdeep for his wonderful inswinger and has said the bowler has the abilities to benefit the Indian team and BCCI should cherish him.

“That’s typical bowling of a fast bowler with the left arm coming in after throwing away from the stump. He [Arshdeep] said he worked with Zaheer Khan for three days. If he can swing the ball in within three days, just imagine the benefits he can bring to the Indian team if he spends some time with them. If such a player is not in the team, the BCCI must take care of him and ensure that his talent is not wasted,” Sehwag told Cricbuzz.

Arshdeep has picked 28 wickets from 21 IPL matches. Reflecting on Arshdeep’s career, Sehwag has said that he is a good bowler and that with hard work and achievement he can reach the team of India.

“Arshdeep is a very good bowler and if he continues to work hard and perform like this he would definitely go to Team India one day,” he concluded.

Punjab Kings will play their next match against Royal Challengers Bangalore on October 3 at Sharjah Cricket Stadium.
