David Lee Roth, the original lead singer of the rock band Van HalenHe will conclude his career next January. “I’m throwing shoes. I’m retired.” In an interview with the Las Vegas Review-Journal, By phone on October 1, the 66-year-old musician said he thought he would be the first member of the band to die in place of Eddie Van Halen, who died last year of cancer. “Diamond Dave” added that his doctors and his companions forced him to think about how his presence on stage affected his health.
Roth said there will be 75 rehearsals for each of his last five shows, which will take place in Las Vegas. “We’re going to bring it up in classic VH style,” he said, adding that he and drummer Alex Van Halen are the band’s only release. “There is no torch to be passed.”
Van Halen News Desk Fans Later published A 6-minute recording of Ruth’s side of a conversation with the Las Vegas Review-Journal. “I’ve given you everything I have to give,” he said at the end of the call. “It was a great, great run, no regrets, nothing to be said for anyone. I will miss you all. Stay lukewarm.”
