The journalist, Ahmed Schubert, revealed the scenes in which Mohamed Sherif and Mohamed Magdy Afsha, the first players of the football team in Al-Ahly Club, were excluded from the Egyptian national team’s list for the Libyan matches, on October 8 and 11, in the World Cup qualifiers.
Schubert said in televised statements that the exclusion of Mohamed Sherif and Mohamed Magdy Afsha from the national team’s list in the two matches in Libya was the result of a technical decision by Portugal’s Carlos Queiroz.
Schubert added: The entire list is Queiroz’s choice and there is no basis for what was reported to be the duo’s exclusion due to their stress, and everything reported about this is false.
Schubert explained: There were no meetings from the assisting device with the players who were excluded from the national team list, and stressed: the players learned of the exclusion from the list through social networking sites.
In recent hours there has been widespread controversy over the list of Egypt’s national team announced by the coaching staff led by Portuguese Carlos Queiroz.
Wael Gomaa, the national coach, refused to justify the choices or exclude some players from the list, indicating that it is a technical vision.
The coaching staff of the first national football team, led by Portugal’s Carlos Queiroz, has released a list of 24 players who will participate in Libya’s two matches in the World Cup qualifiers.
The coaching staff has excluded 11 players from the current camp, namely Muhammad Magdy Afsha, Muhammad Sharif, Muhannad Lashin, Ahmed Samir, Ahmed Tawfiq, Ali Gabr, Mustafa Fathi and Muhammad Hamdi along with the three professionals Karim Hafez, Wissam Morsi and Ahmed Yasser Al Rayyan.
And Wael Gomaa said in a brief statement: “The squads for the squad list came according to a technical vision of the coaching staff led by Queiroz, and there was no session with the excluded players to justify the coaching staff decision.
The director of the national team indicated that the local players on the list will train from tomorrow after the negative half-time, and that the professional players will join in succession from next Monday.
