The world’s largest show, Expo 2020 has officially opened. People around the world enjoyed the opening ceremony from the comfort of their homes and welcomed the beginning of our future together. To commemorate the occasion, the Central Bank of the UAE (CBUAE) has announced the issuance of silver coins.
The silver coins feature the official Expo mascots for Dubai’s landmark buildings on one side and the face value on the other. The name of the UAE is engraved along with the face value in both Arabic and English.
Each silver coin weighs 40 grams and the Central Bank plans to issue a total of 2,020 silver coins. Priced at AED 662 ($180), these silver coins are available for purchase only through the official Expo 2020 stores and the New Zealand Mint website. It will not be for sale anywhere else, not even at the headquarters and branches of the Central Bank.
It should be noted that this is the second commemorative coin announced in honor of the world’s greatest show. The first gold and silver commemorative coins were issued by the Central Bank on the occasion of the UAE hosting Expo 2020.
