Sudirman Cup 2021 LIVE – Malaysia beats Indonesia and advances to semi-finals: Malaysia has made history, beating Indonesia for the first time ever in a team World Cup match to secure their place in the Sudirman Cup semi-final in Vantaa.

  • Indonesia then tied the score in the women’s singles, with Gregoria Mariska Tunjung beating Kisona Selvaduray 22-20, 18-21, 21-19.
  • Lee Zii Jia then re-established Malaysia’s lead in men’s singles, beating Anthony Ginting 21-11, 21-16 in a luscious 44 minutes, before Indonesia once again held on to their rivals via Olympic champions Greysia Polii and Apriyani Rahayu in women’s doubles, Polii and Rahayu squeezes past Pearly Tan and Thinaah Muralitharan 22-20, 17-21, 21-18.
  • In the final game of the match, the mixed doubles, Hoo Pang Ron and Cheah Yee See defeated Praveen Jordan and Melati Oktavianti 21-19, 9-21, 21-12.

Sudirman Cup 2021 LIVE: To secure the memorable win, Malaysia will face Japan in the semi-finals, which passed Chinese Taipei 3-1.

In the other quarterfinals, China and South Korea qualified for the semifinals.

The Indians played without their star players and had ended their chances of qualifying for the knockout stages after suffering a heavy 0-5 loss to formidable China on Monday. The Indians had previously lost their Group A opener against Thailand.
