The sun stops communication with Mars

The Astronomical Society in Jeddah said Earth’s control centers yesterday interrupted communications with their probes, whether orbiting Mars or on the surface, for two weeks because of the sun.

The head of the Astronomical Society in Jeddah, Majed Abu Zahira, explained that Mars is approaching the sun in preparation for the so-called “solar conjunction”, and in the period from October 2 to 14 the red planet will be two degrees from the sun, causing space agencies to shut down communications.

He pointed out that this phenomenon occurs about every two years when the sun comes between Earth and Mars, and right now we can’t see Mars, and the probes can’t see us.
