The WWE Raw Champion gets drafted to SmackDown in the first round

One of the best WWE Raw champions is surprisingly drafted into Friday Night SmackDown in the first round of WWE Draft 2021! The WWE Draft is one of the most special events of the year because it not only sets the stage for the next year of WWE programming with its many shows., but also gives each show a clean slate and opens doors for a new pool of talent to make an impact on another brand. WWE’s first draft as part of last year’s FOX deal yielded a few surprises, but this year they were instantly shocked.

As part of the first round of drafts for SmackDown, it was announced that current Raw Women’s Champion Charlotte Flair is now part of the SmackDown brand. She is the first member of the women’s division to be recruited to the SmackDown brand, and Universal Champion follows current Roman Reigns as he picks the first draft for SmackDown overall. Naturally, this stirs up some curious feelings for what’s to come next in Charlotte’s immediate future as Raw Women’s Champion.

This year’s WWE Draft rules It made things more interesting, too. Not only is half of the menu available for selection on SmackDown this evening (with the other half qualifying on Monday Night Raw), But any star who is not drafted to any of the brands at the end of it all will be advertised as a free agent and can sign any offer they choose. But the biggest development is that the full impact of the draft won’t begin until October 22, the day after WWE Crown Jewel is shown in Saudi Arabia. This means that any final runner still has a few weeks to fragment.

This now includes Charlotte Flair and the Raw Women’s Championship. We’ve seen champions jump across brands before with the need to simply rebrand their own, but Charlotte comes to SmackDown amid an existing photoshoot that includes Becky Lynch, Sasha Banks, and Bianca Belair (which is Raw’s first draft tour. Another big surprise). But since this is only the first round, the surprises for the WWE Draft are sure to continue.
