The Argentine Football Association said today, Saturday, that Juventus striker Paulo Dybala will miss the Argentina national team’s matches in the qualifiers for the 2022 World Cup next Tuesday due to a thigh injury.
Dybala, 27, was part of the new Argentine squad announced by coach Lionel Scaloni last Monday, but he was ruled out and will therefore not participate in the squad’s games against Paraguay, Uruguay and Peru, between 8-15 this month.
Dybala was injured in his team Juventus game in the Italian League, which ended in a 3-2 win over Sampdoria early last week.
Dybala left the game injured after the first goal for his team.
Dybala missed Juventus’ 1-0 win over Chelsea last Wednesday in the Champions League and Juventus expect to return to the stadiums after the international break.
Argentina are second in South American qualifiers for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, after five of the eight games it has played so far, and are six points behind the leader Brazil.
