Firefighters injured fighting Farmingdale house fire, officials say

Three firefighters suffered non-life-threatening injuries after a house fire in Farmingville, Suffolk Police said.

An off-duty Farmingville Firefighter drove past a house on Woodycrest Drive around 1:10 a.m. when he saw the house on fire, police said. He stopped, went inside and safely evacuated all occupants.

The Farmingville Fire Department responded and extinguished the blaze. The three firefighters were taken to Stony Brook University Hospital for treatment.

Fire service representatives were not immediately available for comment and no additional details were available.
