(CBS DETROIT) – Despite the delay, electric vehicles appear to be the future for car manufacturers.
It is now a multi-billion dollar venture for almost every major automaker.
GM and Ford spend a lot to build new EV plants or to renovate existing ones.
These new factories must be retrofitted with special production tools for electric vehicles.
Although it costs a lot of money, it also creates a lot of jobs.
This comes just days after Ford announced a $1 billion investment in new plants in Kentucky and Tennessee, which would create 11,000 new jobs there.
Both GM and FORD plan to have an all-electric lineup by 2040.
