Hundreds evacuated from Honduran island of Guanaja as raging fire destroys homes


A major fire on the Honduran resort island of Guanaja has been brought under control by authorities after dozens of homes were destroyed and hundreds of residents evacuated.

At least three people were injured in the fire, which started early on Saturday.

It is not clear how the fire started.

Covering an area of ​​only 19 square kilometers (7.3 square miles), Guanaja is one of Honduras’ three Bay Islands and its main income comes from tourism.
