Rennes blew up a big surprise, cutting off Paris Saint-Germain’s winning streak, as it defeated 2-0 in the ninth leg of the French football league on Sunday.
Gaitan Laborde opened the scoring for Rennes in the last minute of the first half, then his colleague Flavien Tate added the team’s second goal in the first minute of the second half, and the referee canceled a goal for French star Kylian Mbappe of Saint-Germain in the 68th minute for offside.
Rennes won today’s game, despite the participation of Saint-Germain’s attacking force, as Kylian Mbappe played against Neymar, Lionel Messi and Angel Di Maria.
Rennes increased his score to 12 points and jumped from fourteenth to seventh in the league table, with the win being the team’s third this season, compared to three defeats and three draws.
Paris Saint-Germain were defeated after eight consecutive wins, leaving the lead at 24 points, six points ahead of second-seeded Lens, who defeated Reims 2-0 in the opening games on Friday night.
