MANILA, Philippines – San-En quickly avenged his opening day loss and stunned Shiga, 101-196, in an overtime thriller at Japan’s B.League Sunday at the Ukaruchan Arena.
The NeoPhoenix started overtime with a 7-0 run to take a 92-85 lead after Robert Carter’s three-pointer with 3:33 left.
Kiefer Ravena’s free throws narrowed the deficit to five, 94-89, but his younger brother Thirdy hit back with a triple to give San-En’s lead of 97-89.
The NeoPhoenix was down a whopping 15 points in the third, but they cleared that deficit with Thirdy scoring nine points in the fourth.
Elias Harris then tied the game at 85-all with 1:26 over, with both teams failing to convert at the end of regulation.
Thirdy got 21 points, a B.League career high for him, with seven rebounds and five assists to lead the NeoPhoenix, while Harris added 18 points and 10 boards.
Kiefer had 20 points and seven assists for the Lakestars, while Ovie Soko also had 20 points with 12 boards.
Kiefer posted 11 points and eight assists and played a key role in Shiga’s comeback on Saturday.
