Sydney City Councilor Linda Scott says she is “very happy”. Mayor Clover Moore has backtracked on the decision to cancel the city’s 9:00 p.m. fireworks display.
While the midnight fireworks were always going to continue, the 9pm fireworks were initially canceled due to concerns about COVID-19.
However, Sydney Mayor Clover Moore recently reversed the decision after talks with the NSW government.
Ms Scott told Sky News Australia it was an “extraordinary evening” in the city of Sydney.
“I’ve been inundated with calls from communities, from companies wanting the fireworks to continue at 9 p.m.,” she said.
“So I’m very happy to see that the mayor has stepped back on that.”
