Promising Serbian star Dusan Vlahovic opened the door for clubs looking to use his services to submit their offers after refusing to renew his contract with Italian football club Fiorentina, the latter’s chairman, Rocco Commisso, said on Tuesday.
In an open letter to Viola fans on the club’s website, billionaire Commisso revealed that the 21-year-old Serbian striker, whose contract with Fiorentina expires in June 2023, had turned down an offer that would make him the highest-paid player in the club’s history.
He added: We have also improved the offering several times to meet the demands of both Dushan and its environment. However, despite our best efforts and efforts, these offers were not approved.
Commisso said that during my stay in Florence I have personally worked hard over the past few weeks to find a solution that satisfies both the player and the club, but I am sorry to say that we have not been rewarded for our efforts.
He acknowledged: “At this point, we can only fulfill the wishes of the player and his environment and quickly find the right and feasible solutions as we move forward in this exciting new season.”
Vlahovic scored 21 goals in the Italian league last season and also performed well in the early stages of this season. He scored four goals in seven league games after Fiorentina resisted offers from Atletico Madrid, the Spanish champions, to sign the Serb this summer.
The Serbian’s decision to refuse to renew his current contract will be a blow to Fiorentina fans who are experiencing an exciting period at the start of the new season as Viola is fifth with 12 points from 7 matches, but nine points behind leader Napoli. after losing at home to the latter on Sunday.
It is certain that Fiorentina will not wait for Vlahovic to reach the end of his contract and leave him for free, but will strive to profit from him financially by selling him before reaching the end of the relationship between the two parties, which started in the summer of 2018 after coming to him from Partizan Belgrade.
