The Central Giants have taken over the services of Josh Morgan-Ranui for the 2022 Premiership season.
Josh played for the Northern Suns in 2021 and had an excellent season in the Red and Gold.
Josh has represented New Zealand at Academy, U18 and New Zealand Senior Falcons and was named the U17 New Zealand Player of the Year in 2017.
In 2019, Josh made the move to Melbourne to continue his football career where he played for St. Kilda City Football Club.
“My time at St Kilda was definitely better than I expected. From under-19 to senior level, footy is played at a high level and the coaching staff on all teams are great and really stand behind you to help you with your skills and your general playing knowledge.”
“The culture at the club is fantastic and spans a wide range of ethnicities, which was great.”
“I have great memories of my time in St Kilda. We won the U19 Premiership and I made my senior debut. I made the U19 Inter League team which consists of the top 25 under 19 players in the southern league, which I was happy with!
In addition to the Southern Saints making the move to Canterbury, Josh would like to see a team in Wellington made up of local talent.
“Yes, I personally think it’s a great idea for Welly to follow suit. It also makes training better for the guys who are on one team so we can all train according to one game plan. ”
The Men’s Premiership season starts on February 13, 2022.
