Pacers spoke to 76ers about possible trade for Ben Simmons

Philadelphia 76ers All-Star guard Ben Simmons doesn’t seem to mind that the club deposited $8.25 million in an escrow account in early October as the 25-year-old stays away from his current employer in an effort to force a trade for or after the start of the season.

According to SNY’s Ian Begley, the Indiana Pacers discussed a transaction that would see Indiana send security guard Caris LeVert to Philadelphia for Simmons, among others.

The Sixers would, of course, need additional resources, and Begley noted, “It is not known whether the talks between Philadelphia and Indiana have gone beyond ordinary contact.”

Interestingly, ESPN NBA insider Brian Windhorst referred to Indiana as a “sleeper” team in pursuit of Simmons last Friday:
