Ian ‘Bobby’ Hill’s manager Colin Young admits he will talk to his client next week about whether they will request a new transaction at the end of the 2022 season.
The 21-year-old requested a move to Essendon during the recently completed trading period, but GWS declined to release the contracted minor attacker.
Hill asked to return to Victoria to help his young family with the birth of his first child.
Young said that despite the “pretty draining” mood surrounding Hill’s family after the move fell through before Wednesday’s trade deadline, he was determined to resolve all issues before next season starts.
“That’s a conversation (about whether he’s requesting an exchange again) that we’ll probably have with Bobby and his family next week,” he said on Sports day.
“Bobby left to see his family and his dad stayed with (manager) Andrew (McDougall) yesterday and I listened to all our calls all day and then we went for a beer later and it drained quite a bit.
“We all agreed to catch up and chat next week. Bobby isn’t on a contract next year, so it’s going to be interesting to see how that goes with the support at GWS.”
Hill played 17 games for the Giants in 2021 and has one year left on his current contract.
