Body of teenage girl found in forest

The body of a teenage girl has been found in a forest in Gwynedd.

In a statement issued by North Wales Police, a spokesman confirmed that officers found the body of a 15-year-old girl in forest in Tanygrisiau, Blaenau Ffestiniog on Thursday. The young girl has not yet been identified publicly.

The discovery came after police received a call at. 8.24 Thursday on concerns for a local girl’s safety, NorthWalesLive reports.

Detective Inspector Lee Boycott added: “The circumstances surrounding this tragic incident are not being treated as suspicious and the local forensic pathologist has been informed.

“I would like to extend my sincere condolences to the family and I would request that their privacy be respected in this very difficult time.”

The road up to the quarry in Tanygrisiau was blocked most of the day while police attended the scene.

The traffic and travel monitoring site Inrix says: “Glanypwll Road in both directions closed due to police incident between Blaenau Ffestiniog and Tanygrisiau. Traffic is doing well.

“The road to Cwmorthin Quarry has been closed.”
