The South Melbourne couple’s “terrible year” in lockdown turned around with $ 60 million Powerball award

Flowers, coffee and chocolate are how a couple from South Melbourne plan to celebrate winning an incredible $ 60 million in the Powerball draw last night, explaining that they feel like they’re in a dream.

The Victorian entry was the only Division 1 winning entry in the Powerball 1327 draw on October 21, 2021.

The prize is Victoria’s second largest lottery prize ever. In August this year, a North Melbourne father took home $ 80 million – the state’s largest individual lottery win.

When he spoke to an official from The Lott to confirm their prize this afternoon, the overwhelmed man revealed that they had discovered their astonishing prize shortly after the draw, but had taken the time to let it sink in.

“That’s great news!” the winning man laughed.

“I found out last night while watching TV with my wife. We knew right after the draw that we had won. We screamed and cried.

“It was just disbelief. It was amazing. We’ve just been trying to calm down ever since.

“I’m having a great time, we both have. It’s been a very hard year for us – really awful. But this is changing everything!

“It’s a dream come true! We’ve fantasized about this moment, and now it’s here, and we’re multimillionaires.

“This changes everything for us. We feel very, very grateful.

“I love it! It feels like a dream.

“Today we will celebrate it by getting some chocolate, flowers and coffee and we are going out to have a beautiful dinner tonight.”

While still coming to terms with their new multimillionaire status, the couple revealed that they already had plenty of plans for their prize.

“I want to pay off the home loan and some debt we have,” he continued.

“We are considering retiring, and of course we are helping the children. And we get some great vacations, both intergovernmental and overseas.

“We will definitely buy a new car and we would love to buy a new house in the end.

“This will make things so much easier. It’s life changing!”

The winning entry was sold at Market lottery and news, Bod 121-122, South Melbourne Market, South Melbourne.

Market lottery and news Owners Chris and Ana Haritos said they were delighted to have sold another Division 1 winning entry.

“This is the first time in my life I’ve sold a post like this!” exclaimed Chris.

“We’ve sold two TattsLotto Division 1 winning entries in recent years, but this $ 60 million prize is out of this world! This is the ultimate prize.

“We’ve just finished renovating, and it’s fun, because every time we renovate or move, we sell a Division 1 winning entry shortly after. And we did it again!

“We would very much like to send our congratulations to the couple. We wish our winners all the best and hope they really enjoy this life-changing award.”

The winning numbers in the Powerball draw 1327 on Thursday, October 21, 2021 were 7, 17, 11, 28, 30, 2, 27. The all-important Powerball number was 11.

Across Australia, there was one division a winning entry in the Powerball draw 1327 – the entry from Victoria.

Lott’s Division 1 winning numbers have now reached 365 so far this calendar year, including 134 won by Tatts customers.

During the 12 months to June 30, 2021, 17 Powerball Division 1 winners across Australia cashed in more than $ 519.8 million in prize money.

During this time, Powerball twice offered a $ 80 million jackpot – the largest prize offered by an Australian lottery game.

Of the 17 Powerball divisions that won one in FY21, 10 landed in New South Wales, five in Queensland and two in Victoria.
